Roll labels are pressure-sensitive labels wound on a core for efficient application by hand or with a machine. Willowpack’s custom roll labels come in different materials and can be cut to custom shapes and sizes to meet specific branding and packaging needs across industries including food, beverage, wine and spirits, health and wellness, cosmetics, and CBD and cannabis.
Cut and stack labels and pressure sensitive labels serve different packaging needs. Cut and stack labels are printed on sheets, cut, and stacked, with adhesive applied during labeling. They’re cost-effective for high volumes and offer material flexibility. Pressure sensitive labels come with pre-applied adhesive and stick when pressure is applied. Willowpack’s pressure sensitive labels, available as roll labels, are easy to apply and ideal for efficient manual or automatic application across food, beverage, health and wellness, wine and spirits, household, cosmetics, and CBD and cannabis packaging.
Roll labels are generally more cost-effective than sheet labels, especially for larger quantities. That’s because they’re more efficient to produce and apply, which reduces labor costs associated with high-volume production labeling. Roll labels are also designed for both manual and machine application, can increase efficiency when used with automatic applicators, and allow for more efficient storage and easier application compared to sheet labels.
Different manufacturers may specialize in particular materials or production methods. At Willowpack, we offer a range of custom labels for various applications. Our roll labels are available in materials like white paper, white BOPP, Estate 8, clear BOPP, and silver paper or BOPP. We create labels for food packaging, beverage bottles, health and wellness product packaging, cannabis products, cosmetics, and household items. Our digital printing allows for high-quality, full-color labels with different finish options. We also offer custom shapes at no extra cost for unique product labels.
Store roll labels in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally around 72°F (22°C) with 50% relative humidity. Keep them in original packaging or a sealed plastic bag to protect from dust and moisture. Store rolls horizontally to prevent edge damage. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity, which can affect the adhesive. Proper storage maintains label quality until use.
To apply pressure-sensitive labels, start with a clean, dry surface. Peel the label from its backing and position it on your product. Press down firmly from one edge, smoothing towards the opposite edge to avoid air bubbles. Use a squeegee or roller for even pressure. For large quantities, consider a label applicator machine. Willowpack’s roll labels work with most standard label application equipment.
